2027 Aer Lingus College Football Classic

Wisconsin vs. Pitt

Wisconsin will play a football game outside of the United States for the second time in program history, when the Badgers open their 2027 season against Pitt in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic on August 28, 2027, at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. 

In 2026, the Badgers will face off against the Pitt Panthers on September 19 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison. Both teams will then kick off the 2027 campaign in Week Zero with the eighth college football game ever played at Dublin’s 47,000-seat Aviva Stadium. Pitt will serve as the home team and Wisconsin as the visitors.

The schools have only met three times prior to the 2026 season, with their most recent meeting taking place in 1967. Pitt has won all previous matchups.

Aviva Stadium, which opened in 2010, was built on the site where historic Lansdowne Stadium once stood. Previous college football games played in Aviva Stadium in Dublin include a pair of Notre Dame-Navy games (2012 and 2023), a Georgia Tech-Boston College game in 2016, a 2022 Nebraska-Northwestern game, a nailbiter between Florida State and Georgia Tech in 2024, and a Big 12 showdown between K-State and Iowa State in 2025. All-told, the Pitt-Wisconsin football game will be the 13th played on Irish soil.
